Either a piece of dark chocolate with a smear of natural peanut butter, yogurt with fruit and honey, or lately, (calories permitting) a small red yam with butter and real maple syrup.

When I really start to get bothersome cravings, it means that I have recently eaten something that I shouldn't have. I can't indulge too much with sweet flavors or floury "dry carb" items like breads, pretzels, crackers. Even if I don't binge right away, I'll start craving high-calorie carbs within a few days. It's easier just to avoid it altogether. It's basically more "peaceful" for me that way.

I do not find other foods will help with a sweet tooth, sweet fruit does not work for me I will eat the fruit then the chocolate etc. so it ends up extra calories from the fruit. It is not a problem as I incorporate it in my diet 3-4 times a week in my planner at a 100 calorie limit and it does not increase my weekly average calories. I allow for it if I want ice cream, chocolate etc. It is not good to have any off limits food, it is the quantity and how often that counts on the scale. It is a lifetime eating habit not a DIET.

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

Dried fruit usually feeds the addiction because it's a concentrated form of the sugar in fruit.

I'm a Type 2 diabetic and am addicted. I can't take any sugar subs because they don't satisfy and most of them leave a funny aftertaste.

Can't have any candy or soft drinks in the house. If I'm going to binge, it will be only after an effort to get the crap.

Can't let myself be without a healthy snack (nuts usually or cheese bites). When my blood sugar drops, I will binge on candy or cookies. It's difficult to stop.

Really reduce the carbs because a lot of carbs get turned into sugar pretty quickly.

If you don't want to do the sugar challenge recommended, at least read the articles associated with it. They're well written and very informative.

I can't play with that addiction at all. I understand increasing fats will take some of the sting out. Avocado is my go to calm me down. Also I have found Jicama Tortilla has a surprising sweetness that may be a good substitute? Maybe with a couple strawberries and a little stevia sprinkled on or whipping crème may give you a little help. I try diverting my attention works best for me, maybe a walk?
