Love to cook jack fruit in so many ways. Quite often make croquettes, or with fish or meat.

I want to try making barbecue sandwich filling from jack fruit. I might need to pop into the East Asia market nearby.

Boston has a large Asian community, so there are many good Chinese/Korean markets that sell rambutans or jack fruit. I saw jack fruit this morning. Amazing how huge they are.

See if there are Sprouts Markets near you. That’s the “mainstream” place I find them.
No luck with grocers catering to the Pakistani/Indian/Bangladeshi populations recently. My usual stop was even out of curry leaves.
Perhaps markets aimed at Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine would have some.

Instead of trying to grow a rambuttan from seed, maybe you can find a seedling plant.

Not only can I find rambuttans and Durian in New England, I can also get jack fruit, dragon fruit and lychee.

Asian pears are becoming more popular too.

@NASFKAB

There are several videos on youtube on how to grow a rambutan plant in a pot.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN-Ri0Jaetg

I actually saw them at my market over the weekend for $4 a pound. I know a place that sells Durian. That's a little too exotic for me.

Hey there my frugal sister...
I found several online sites in your country on a quick google search.

Can’t believe this...they are in my grocery!
$1 for two. The most affordable “interesting” fruit.
So I had a couple.

The name Rambutan literally means 'hairy fruit'. It's a Malaysian fruit that's extremely delicious! You need to use your thumbnail (you actual thumbnail, not the internet kind) to pry open the hairy skin, to get to the delicious flesh! There is a seed in the middle, so you need to eat carefully, similar to the pip of a cherry, but bigger and longer.

I came across someone who posted about buying a tray of 12 rambutans for I forgot how much. She thought it was a good deal, but it was really expensive! They are sold by the kilo here in Malaysia! So, if you're ever in Malaysia, you have to try this fruit! It's sweet and tasty! They are seasonal though. I forgot when the rambutan season is : something to google before making travel plans! ;-)
