Kris, They aren't the same at all. I am sure people do fudge their numbers. Personally, I won't. Again, it's better than losing the entry fee but goodness, I'll be happy when this is all over. The isolation is getting to me! :-)

I don't see how those virtual races could be anything near the same. I mean, you don't have other contestants incentivizing you to do better or keep going. You don't have the camaraderie of before/after races. Do you have to show proof that you ran the race, or can you completely fudge it and be a tad dishonest?

Kris

@MANDIETERRIER1 We shall see what happens. All of my races through May have been cancelled, postponed, or gone virtual. And now the first race in June was postponed.

Let's just say I strongly dislike virtual races. LOL...It's just not the same as a live race with people. It is, of course, better than losing the money/

I have been cooking my lately myself. Usually, I would cook a big meal on Sunday and eat leftovers for a couple days, but since I've been working from home because COVID-19, been doing more healthy cooking and eating less junk foods. it makes a world of difference.

My Mom has been pulling out all the stops with her cooking during this lockdown! She keeps cooking all sorts of delicious foods! So, I was pleasantly surprised today that I wasn't overly heavy. This is good as this may mean I don't end up owing the dialysis machine! I am just soooo thankful for that!

I have resorted to strict portion control when it comes to food! Even my Mom's excellent cooking! I can't say the same for my brother though, all his shorts are getting tighter because he has been binging! I even have stopped late night eating. If I am hungry late at night I just tell myself "no way"!

Kris, that leaves more salted caramels for me then! :) I don't eat them often but I do enjoy them. My dad makes really good ones.

No, I'm not LOL! Even things like salted caramel - very few of things I've found of them that I like. I'm very sensitive to the taste of salt and what most people might find as 'normal' I find to be a big overdose. I DO however like a very fine sprinkling on hot chips.

Kettle corn is my one splurge when I go to either a state fair or local festival. I love the taste of kettle corn straight from the kettle. Only three ingredients, corn, sugar and salt.

And I totally agree. The food rarely tastes as good as it looks in the picture.

Overpriced fried food at fairs is right. I have never tried them myself because I truly find most deep fried stuff icky and not worth the calories in the end.

You can find a lot of good stuff at fairs. A lot of local restaurants have stalls at the MN State Fair and they develop special items for each year's event. Many of these items aren't decent choices.

Of course, they aren't cheap. What's nice is the news here usually does segments on what the places have and you can plan and budget.

lol emoticon well, I must admit that one of the first things I wanted to do as soon as I moved to the States was to try deep fried Oreos. They look kinda nice in pictures

I did try them once, at a fair here, but I was soooooooo dissapointed :( emoticon they were kind of... just a mushy.... greasy... mess... definitely not worth the calories. And Arch is right, they're really overpriced too so... never again :'(

I love fairs and I love overpriced kettle corn, though emoticon

There is a channel called How to Cook That. The most recent video, the host is making sugar decorations for deserts.

She also debunks 5 Minute Crafts and videos like them. Shown on Facebook.

Whenever I've gone to a local state fair, I said I was going to try a fried oreo or a fried twinkie or some other fried food. What put me off was not the thought that the food would upset my stomach. That's one reason I don't really eat fried food.

The primary reason was the cost !! OMG... do you know how much a fried oreo or twinkie costs ? $7-$10 ! If you add up all the different foods you might want to try at a state fair, you need to bring $50 and expect to spend at least $40 or more.

I guess I can see that re dissuading people from eating - I hadn't really thought of it like that. Mind you, it is BL**DY GROSS that they put it out there for all to see. YUKKK!

Uhmm I think I have some sort of... misophonia or something because seriously, I can't stand loud eaters and to me, those videos are pure torture :-/

But I kind of get it... when I was trying to lose weight, I used to watch lots of cooking videos - cakes, donuts, cupcakes, etc. All sorts of junk food recipes emoticon . For some reason, that always helped control my cravings... At some point I found out about fried twinkies and fried oreos, fried snickers and fried everything and I started watching recipe videos of that too. I found it really interesting but also kind of disgusting. Those videos completely killed my appetite. So, I mean, I think I see how that sort of thing could be helpful for people trying to lose weight...

I never said that Elaine found it erotic. I said some people do. They are called feeders.

I cannot watch them. They trigger my binge eating. Sometimes I can't even watch the reaction channels.

On one end of the spectrum you have Peggie and Stephanie. On the other end of the spectrum you have Amberlynn, Foodie Beauty, Nickacado and Trisha Paytas.

I only went down the muckbang feeder rabbit hole because I watched a channel called. My Thoughts will Probably Offend You.

@EOWYN24241

You do understand that Peggy Neo isn't really eating all that food ? If so, why doesn't she stand up at the end of the videos to show off her belly ? Shouldn't her stomach be enormous after eating all that food ?

Which means she isn't eating it. She spits it out. You never see her swallow. it just seems to sit her in cheek the same way a hamster or gerbil carries and holds its food.

@--MEOW--

I've read those articles about the people who watch mukbang's just to try to understand why EOWYN finds them so fascinating. I'm like the others who've replied. I can barely watch these for more than a couple minutes before fast forwarding them to the end.

Watching someone binge eat isn't my idea of entertainment.

Nope, it's not that I find it erotic.

It's hard to explain, but since I can't eat like her, I kinda feel 'satisfied' watching her eat in a way that I can't, almost. Also, I like her chatter. The way she talks isn't as annoying as some other YouTubers.

lol omg guys... you're making it sound even worse than it is

I don't see anything on Elaine's post that indicates that she finds the videos erotic... and even if she did that's completely irrelevant here and it's none of our business... She's just asking how they manage to eat so much food without gaining weight. By definition, Mukbangs are supposed to be broadcast live. Many of them aren't live and are probably fake but a many others are live streamed... so yes, many of them are real.

I went back and watched a few minutes of that video (I couldn't stand watching more than 3 mins)... and I heard a lot of really disgusting, repulsive, horrible sounds but none of them sounded "orgasmic", unless I'm completely clueless of what female orgasms are supposed to sound like lol emoticon

I know that people who are on a diet tend to watch that sort of videos because, according to them, watching other people eat is almost as satisfying as eating... You can find info online, apparently there's even this thing called "Mukbang diet"
spoonuniversity.com/lifestyle/why-you-shou
ld-definitely-try-the-mukbang-diet

Quoting from that same article:

"Another benefit of mukbang is that you won’t feel lonely. The interesting thing about mukbang is that the broadcasting hosts are always talking as they are eating. Since they are interacting with their audience, it's as if you have a friend eating in front of you."

So there you go, not everything has to be sexual...

I still think they're gross, though... And even unethical. I mean... seriously, that poor cow died just so they could record that repulsive video? Ugh... disgusting emoticon

Nope. the videos are clearly edited.

In this one, you can even see the bowl. Think she's using it so that she wont drop the food ? Nope. she's using it to spit out the food.

Don't worry.

We totally understand why you watch these videos. You find them erotic. Why else would someone sit and watch another woman binge eat for 30 minutes ?

I beg to differ, Archii.

I watched those videos from beginning to end. And she did eat all that. There were no breaks in the videos.

That's why I don't understand, how can Peggie remain so thin binging on such obscene amounts of food at such a regular frequency.

@MANDIETERRIER1

Out of curiosity, I watched a couple of Eowyn's mukbang videos. I cheated, I fast forwarded to the end. LOL

Here's what I noticed. One, you never see the person's stomach after they've eaten all that food. You only ever see the eater from about shoulder height from behind a table loaded with all the food. We see them pick up the food and eat parts of it. How do we know these people ate all that food ? We don't. Since the videos aren't in real time or aired live, we can assume that they've probably been edited.

It's a reason why all these skinny women can eat piles of food day after day and not get fat. they aren't really eating the food.

As others have already noted, there are plenty of people who have a fetish for this type of activity. The eaters certainly promote the sexual nature of the eating by making orgasmic sounds as they bite into the food. Notice how the camera focuses on the face as their lick their tongue. Lots of sexual innuendo.

@eowyn24241

In short, you were snookered, Eowyn.

The mystery why these skinny women don't get fat is because they aren't really eating all that food. they're only eating a small portion of it to simulate having an orgasm online for their paying customers.

Is that why you enjoy watching these videos ?

The mystery for me is? How do these people make thousands of dollars a month? Eating on camera is profitable.

Social Blade doesn't even account for the "private eating sessions" that the feeders pay for.

@MANDIETERRIER1 I don't know if she is bulimic or not but I do think she might have some mental health issues at bare minimum.

I agree that the food shelves need help right now. I am stocking the little free pantry in my neighborhood when I can. When I grocery shop again on Friday, I'll see what I can find to add. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a couple of rolls of TP to add? :-)

@mlan, I feel really bad for my local food pantry. I am sure that they won't be able to have their Spring into Summer 5k. That raises thousands of dollars. I am thinking of having a late birthday fundraiser on facebook.

My guess, everyday she consumes thousands of calories of junk food? Simple, she sticks her finger down her throat

Why do people watch muckbangs? For some it's a fetish. Men and maybe even women. Pay these people to gorge themselves on camera. That is why these people eating on camera moan orgasmically, chew loudly and slurp loudly while eating. It's feederism.

Although it's been my experience that many feeders want their feedees to be morbidly obese.

Lastly, just because you are a size 2 and have a flat tummy. Doesn't mean you are healthy. Especially if you eat thousands of calories of garbage food on camera.

No one is perfect. Even if they think they are.

@--MEOW-- I agree the mukbangers are wasteful! And gross. I know this nasty thing has been going on for awhile but I think the food waste is amplified right now. In my state a couple of charitable organizations are scrambling for donations to get enough food to ensure that low income children, elderly, and those with severe disabilities have food.

I also see it potentially as an eating disorder, especially if binging and purging is involved. If that's the case, I hope the individuals get the help they need.

I don't know why people watch that sort of crap, too. It certainly isn't something that needs to be encouraged, and unfortunately there ARE some who will think it is cool and don't see the harm.

No mystery. just common sense.

She throws up all the food once she has completed the video or she takes a laxative.

I wonder how mukbangers like Peggie Neo from Singapore do it! In one sitting, she ate 8 burgers, 2 large fries, 2 Mcflurries & an apple pie & a large coke!

How does she keep uploading nearly everyday without gaining weight?!

It's a big mystery to me! I only have to eat one more sandwich and gain, so how does she do it?!
