I don't think some of you have missed this 'aid for weight-loss", and yes, sometimes some food IS off-limits such as .....

The OP said this

"Raw octopus! I once bought a raw octopus at the fish market, meaning to cook it but busy at work it was left in the fridge. Not frozen. I lost about 7 lbs that week. Every time I opened the fridge the odor of that octopus took away any apetite I had."

Finding a system that works for you... which can change with time (i.e. fasting vs 6 small meals vs intermittent fasting, keto, etc). Don't be so stringent with whatever you choose to follow that you cannot follow it long-term. Try to make changes you can sustain for life without feeling deprived. Find an exercise(s) you love to do. Make sure whatever lifestyle menu you choose is healthy for you. Keto is not healthy for everyone long term... some people need more sodium than others, etc (check with your physician). Etc etc. Biggest thing for me that helps?? Finding low cal meals that are hearty and voluminous so that way I do not feel hungry quicker than I should.

Each step of each moment is a decision. Make your future what you want it to be, and never settle.

For me...loading up on veggies and salads and cutting way back on starches and sugars. If I focused my meals on foods I didn't care for, I would not be able to stick to it.

I completely eliminated sugar, refined starches, & alcohol, and cut way back on fats. Lost about 71 lbs and have kept it off for two years so far. I have since resumed drinking alcoholic beverages but only on weekends, and no more than 1 or 2 per week. Sugar and starches, however, are banned from my house for good!

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Raw octopus! I once bought a raw octopus at the fish market, meaning to cook it but busy at work it was left in the fridge. Not frozen. I lost about 7 lbs that week. Every time I opened the fridge the odor of that octopus took away any apetite I had. I left it in on purpose for another few days then I threw it out. 7 lbs lighter.
This ought to be a patented way to lose weight. Its more effective than recipes. lol
