I have been using Avon products for a while. My sister and I sell Avon.

In this case when you buy something like Avon. I think it is worth it, because you are helping someone out.

I think it is if you find products that work well for you. It kind of depends on what you can afford. I have tried a couple high-end products with which I got good results (e.g. Rejuven8, Plexaderm) but they're a bit out of my budget at the moment. I was lucky to be able to find some reasonably good mid-priced products at the drug store (at the momenr, I'm using several Neutrogena products.) Of course they're not going to turn back the clock 20 years, but my skin appears noticeably smoother and brighter since using them regularly. Occasional spa treatments, like facials, are also a nice way to splurge. It is true, though, that your diet has a major impact, as well as whether you smoke. Oh -- and keep your face OUT of the sun! Sun damage is the worst!

Skin care is about having the best skin you can.
Acne, aging, other issues are just spurring reasons.

For me, the splurge is the time, not the product.
I use: gentle soap (yes, soap, not a “cleanser”), witch hazel to tone, moisturizer and sunscreen as I’m very fair and sun triggers rosacea.
I have a bottle of micellar water at work for hot days. It is a couple dollars and freshens my face.
I wear little to no make up. My sun protection is tinted.

As Archimedes said, your diet is far more important.

But, I’d say it’s far better to splurge on skincare with good ingredients than makeup.

Wake up every day knowing you make the decision to begin your journey anew.

This choice in this moment defines now.
What is your now?

Yes, but you don't have to splurge on all products. Choose those most important to you.

Not when you can get good choices that are not expensive. But moisturizing all of you is important, so is taking off makeup every night. And I wear a minimum of fast to put on makeup most days, from a variety of brands. But good makeup choices, like skincare, can be reasonably priced.

The issue with splurging is that it's very hard to accurately assess whether or not a product is expensive because it's good or because it's simply overpriced for one reason or another.

Furthermore, sometimes the most basic of products gets the best results.

For example I have very dry and sensitive skin and no skin care product I've ever tried has helped me. Everything agitates my skin. Everything. No matter how "sensitive" it is labeled, if it contains any of the popular ingredients, it agitates my skin.

But there's one thing that doesn't. Simple vaselin, or petroleum jelly as it may be called. It's the one thing that seems to be completely neutral and keeps my skin moist all day with a single application.

And it costs like $2 a tube that lasts me like 2 weeks or more.

After I discovered this I ain't splurged anything on skin care any more. Doesn't seem worthwhile when the cheapest product I've ever seen has been the most effective.

It is worth it only if you use all the products you buy - not just buy them, use them a couple of times and then stick them back on the dresser.

I don't really buy anything, my skin is so sensitive that I usually just use water and a cloth.

I agree with the general theme here: skincare doesn't have to be expensive and you are what you eat. You can find some really nice brands at your local drugstore;you don't have to pay department store prices. Moreover,if you putting cheap, junk, garbage food into your body, taking care of your skin is futile, even with an ultra expensive product,

It depends.

If you are splurging on it because of vanity then no it is NOT worth it.

IF, however, the splurge is because of some 'health' reason, such as extremely dry skin, etc., then it is worth spending money on it, BUT you don't need to spend a lot on it. Just because a lot of skin care is expensive doesn't mean that it is any better than something a fraction of the price.

In my own experience, I have extremely dry skin - even my own Dr has been very stunned. After using prescribed ointment as the wash and moisturizer (I can't use soap) and altho' it improved things a lot, I still had like a cloud of powder/flakes flying around when my sleeve was pushed up to take my BP. He suggested a particular brand of moisturizer and within that brand showed me what one to get, and there has been a big improvement. It was tons cheaper than a lot of the others around it all proclaiming to do the same thing. You don't need very much AND it lasts a LONG time. One 354ml bottle lasted me 4 months to do my arms/legs and face on an almost daily basis.

The one he suggested? Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (it has natural colloidal oatmeal in it.)

I've tried many expensive and reasonably priced skin care products. By process of elimination, Aveeno and Neutrogena are the most effective. I did not see a difference when using the expensive ones. A good diet and exercise is what makes a difference for me.

I use Burt's Bees and it is not really expensive and available in most grocery stores. It works just fine.

You can't stop the aging process, but you can age gracefully.

What most people don't realize is that a poor diet (think too much fast food, fried food and sugar) CAN age a person drastically.

Have you ever heard of the expression,"You are what you eat ?" an unhealthy diet is written all over a person's body. skin with no luster, split ends and brittle nails, muffin tops, etc. A poor diet makes a person look 10-15 years older.

If a person takes care of themselves, doesn't abuse their body with the food they eat, they wouldn't need to splurge on skincare.

What's a compliment someone receives when they lose 20-30 pounds ? Oh, you look YEARS younger !

I feel that getting expensive skincare isn't worth it beyond a certain age because you just can't stop the aging process, no matter how much you spend!

What dyu think?
