I want to look good: to regain, as much as possible, the slender, fit, athletic body I took for granted in my 20s and 30s.
What set me off was a mid-life crisis triggered by a song on the radio and a gallon of cookies 'n' cream ice cream.
Losing the weight has made me feel more attractive, sexier, and more confident. I wear nicer clothes, put a bit more effort into my appearance, and generally take better care of myself. Apparently, my habits have rubbed off on a few of my co-workers too: they are now more diet & exercise-conscious and health-focused. Since I've become something of a role model, it's important for me to maintain my good habits because I'd feel as though I'd be letting others down if I didn't.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I have a "bad leg" = intermittent pain and intermittent limping. Which is of course bothersome and which also limits my activities. These symptoms would be partially - likely significantly - relieved if I weighed less.
Also there is so much to do in life - and I spend too much time resting!
To generally FEEL better. I suffer from PTSD and SAD/Depression. Last year wasn't a good year, I was very numb and detached and disengaged. I want to lose weight to feel better about myself and hopefully feel better in general.

I am a born again Christian and I love the Lord with all my heart. He has changed my life so I now live with more peace and contentment. I no longer desire to have what some of my friends have , but know God knows my needs and I am so grateful that He has given me my needs and not my wants. I enjoy writing my daily blog Bible Verse for each day. I enjoy spending time with God every day. I enjoy Spark People and the ones I have become friends with. Thy have become an encouragement as I go al

for me it started out to be a smaller size, now: I enjoy exercise and eating healthy because I feel better. I have become kinder to myself and those around me because of the exercise. I used to have to use reward system to help me stay on track but exercise has become the reward in itself.
I want to swim an open water competition in March. This is the first time in my life losing weight has been about something other than looking good, and it's interesting how much easier it is for me to make smart choices when I think about what I need to do to be successful in the race rather than about wanting to fit in a pair of jeans.

If you have formed the habit of checking on every new diet that comes along, you will find that, mercifully, they all blur together, leaving you with only one definite piece of information: french-fried potatoes are out. ~~Jean Kerr
