Three steps back..

Tuesday, November 24, 2020

I feel so sorry for my residents. For a little while they were allowed to eat in the dining room. Do activities. As long as they had no symptoms, stayed 6 feet apart and wore a mask. The could sit outside on nice days. Family could visit. Things were starting to somewhat resemble normal around here. Then poof! Back to being isolated in their apartments. Back to eating alone out if Styrofoam containers. No visits from loved ones. And all in time for the holidays. I just feel so bad for them. Who knows how many holidays some of them have left. The staff her tries to lift their spirits but it's not the same.

emoticon You & people like you are doing an amazing job trying to help your residents through such difficult times. emoticon I can't imagine how difficult your days are. I have a sister 5 years older than me that lives alone in a Seniors apartment building 16 hours away from us, and she is dealing with major depression. She wasn't answering any messages I left and I had to phone her minister to check she was ok. He set up a daily calling circle for her. Not everyone has people to check on them & they must be suffering badly. People like myself that live in a Virus free community, that are not having problems coping, don't realize how difficult it is for these people & the care givers who take care of them. You & all caregivers are emoticon It awesome that you can emoticon Take care.

Yes. My husband’s elderly mother is in an assisted living facility and things are closing down pretty tightly in this part of the country. Vaccination is not far away now for her and her neighbors. Perhaps by April, things will have returned to near normal again. I hope so! emoticon emoticon
