I got my annual blood work done, and since I've been with the same health system for years, I can compare results with years past. I can honestly say that my blood work is better than it's been since my 20's. My cholesterol, A1C, immune system, mineral, iron, are all in perfect balance. The only thing that's in need of adjustment is my Thyroid. I'm having a Hashimoto's surge again, where my body is in a BIG hypothyroid swing. My doctor finally agreed to order 8-week standing blood tests, so I can just stop by the lab every 8 weeks until we adjust the medication. That explains my weight plateau for the last few weeks. My doctor said that with weight loss, and already imbalanced thyroid can get confused, so we need to just watch it carefully the next few months until I am in maintenance mode. Then we can go back to 6-month checkups. I'm so happy. This is the reason I'm doing this. I mean, yes, I can't wait to look better and wear smaller sized and cuter clothes. But to be given an actual clean bill of health, to know that my body is doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing, that I've lowered my risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis, that I've given myself a quality of life that was missing before - this is huge. I am going to continue to refine and lose the pounds, but I am SO incredibly grateful for what I've gained. I was headed to some pretty dark places long term health-wise, and I feel so grateful to be not only in the clear but thriving. I look forward to seeing what the adjusted thyroid does, I can usually feel it within 5-6 days.
