Day 297: The "Shelter in Place/Retirement" Wardrobe

Friday, October 23, 2020

Had another couple over for dinner last night...while Jamie normally has to be practically tied down to a chair in order to keep him at the table with other folks at least through dinner, with this couple he's the opposite - he stays the entire time! We all had a great time, and one thing that was really useful is that Ed is going through his second kid applying for colleges right now, so he was able to give Jamie a lot of good information about the process, different colleges, etc. (Jamie is a junior this year, so he'll be applying this time next year).

The bad thing is I drank too much wine - hopefully that doesn't derail my weight loss this week! I did get a 4-mile walk in the morning, so hopefully that helps.

This morning I had another "backyard meeting" - boy, I'm going to miss those when winter comes! Nice to be able to break up the zooms. (We keep all our social/work interactions to outdoors).

On another note...I'm starting to think about my "retirement wardrobe" - I'm going to retire next fall - and frankly, just my shelter-in-place wardrobe. The first few weeks of working at home, I really schlepped out, lots of sweats and t-shirts...then I realized I was feeling like a total slob and cleaned up my act a bit, especially on days I had to turn on my video for a zoom meeting!

But I'm trying to think more about how I want to dress in general, rather than some days dressing halfway decent, some days just throwing on shorts and a t-shirt, etc. If that makes sense? I updated my Pinterest board yesterday...took off all the work stuff, since I don't need any more work clothes at this point! I also updated my Stitch Fix profile (I get a box every other month) to tweak it a bit and really focus it toward non-work, casual clothes. Basically, I want to be comfortable but presentable. I don't want to feel like if I suddenly have to jump on a zoom or run to the store, I need to change because I look like a slob.

One thing I need for sure is jeans, though...my jeans are all getting pretty roomy now, which on the one hand I love, but on the other hand it bugs me a bit because when I'm wearing them you can't really tell I've lost weight, LOL! I should dig out my old skinny jeans that I gave up on last year, I can probably fit into them now, hee hee hee.

Well, I should get back to work. Happy Friday, all!

I have started rotating in my "casual" pants. And i always put on jewelry - one cause i love it, i can't let it just sit collecting dust and it makes me feel good! Goodness - senior next year? when did that happen? hahahah
