Bike riding

Monday, October 19, 2020

I've ridden a total of 105 miles this week. Today my husband and I went down the bike trail towards downtown, and then rode through town on the way back. I really didn't like it. I'm spoiled from the bike trail. I don't have to watch for traffic, I can go consistently fast, and it's built for bikes. I was about 400 calories shorter than projected today because of all the stopping and starting and because riding at a lower heart rate. It was fine, and we had fun, but in terms of biking, I'm sticking to my trail. I have a goal of a 40-mile ride this week. Our bike trail covers a 68-mile loop, and someday I'll build up to that. I bought some new bike shorts and leggings, and am now looking for better outdoor gear. I have stayed in my calories but gone over my fat allotment for the 3rd day in a row. I have got to reign it in. It's the cheese. We never have cheese because I'll eat it! So, my step boys are gone tomorrow, and the cheese will either be in the trash or in the freezer.....

emoticon I often marvel at the gals brave enough to ride city streets!. My former employer sponsored Biking events, and a very robust bike club. The VP of North America sales was an avid rider, and he rode in that club. They would go 10-25 during the lunch hour and 50 -100 mi rides on the weekend. I remember wishing I could be brave and fit enough to ride passionately like they did. It bothered me that their were no women in the club, not because we weren’t welcome, we were, but because why??? We knew about, we weren’t excluded, but no women showed up. UGGH! I took that UGGH feeling of despair, and turned it into my charge for the future. I stopped wishing for it and I started working for it and am still going!

emoticon Thank you for this blog, it took me back to a place of power, where I made key decisions that have materialized into the Gal I am today.

Cheese is one of my big weaknesses! I usually try to stick to feta but my boyfriend bought brie in sale and I can't resist it!

WTG on your mileage this week!
    Great job!
I rode mostly city streets on my ride today and it’s definitely different and very challenging.
    Have a great week!
Padded shorts are a game changer, huh?
