Day 24

Thursday, September 24, 2020

It was a long morning. We had to be at the hospital at 7:45 a.m. for my husband to register for his scope. He registered and came back to the car to wait to be called in. The call came at 8:00 a.m. He had to go directly to the first floor where someone was waiting at the elevator to take him where he needed to be. (He had to go early Sunday morning for a Covid test which thankfully was negative.)

I needed to find a place to stay until he called for his ride home. I found a parking lot and sat there reading until about 10. Yesterday, when we were getting the details of how the morning would probably proceed, they thought it would be 11-11:30 when he would be released. At 10, I decided to drive to Point Pelee to go for a walk. I had just passed the entrance when he called. I had to find a place to turn around and return to the hospital. I was wishing I had just stayed where I was with my book.

He wanted coffee so we went to Tim Horton's. We were in the drive-through line when he decided he wanted to go somewhere to eat and would wait until then for his coffee. We had to wait for the cars ahead of us to proceed before we could get out.

He managed to stay quiet until we got to the parking lot at the restaurant. He was critical of the way I was backing my car into the parking spot. I managed to hold my tongue but I made a face. He stomped into the restaurant while I finished parking.

We had an enjoyable late breakfast. He didn't say anything on the rest of the drive home. I was behind a slow vehicle and usually he would be nagging me to pass. I thought he might be sleeping but he says he wasn't. Because I know he is critical of my driving I am super cautious when he is in the passenger seat but I will never reach his standard.

So, we are home and I decide I'd better walk before I start anything else. I walked to the library to return a book and continued on. It was a nice walk. I found another one of those electrical boxes and got pictures.

This one was painted on the back too.

I finished my walk. It was another nice day (23*C/73*F). It is going to be a real shock when the cold hits.

I use MapMyWalk to track my walks. Today I tried to add a picture to my record. It wasn't looking very nice and so I deleted the picture. When I did that, I also deleted the record of my walk. Frustration. I managed to re-create most of my walk but it doesn't show everything because the app only works on actual roads. If I walk across a field I cannot recreate that. Long story short, I walked 3.31 km this afternoon.

September total 73.94 km + 3.31 = 77.25 km emoticon

Good walk . . . you walked it, regardless of whether the app tracked it!! -- and good frustration management in several different contexts!!

Women's driving is NEVER up to the Stirling Moss standard, is it???

My temperament is probably more MOLLIEMAC!!

I like the picture of the electrical box. How nice that you have something nice to look at. So you were going to walk at Pointe Peele. I remember going there with my family growing up. We use to go quite often. We would swim off the North Shore. We even stayed in our family friend's cottage for a week once. I loved it there. Now I think it's a wildlife preserve isn't it? Haven't been there in years. We lived in Detroit, so it was a great drive there cause we always pass the Heinz 57 canning factory there. Boy you could smell the tomatoes.

Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.

You are a very patient woman. In the past I was known to have pulled over and handed over "the reins".
