Moving House - Day Six
Sunday, September 13, 2020
Inga and Mick, who have helped us throughout our move we’re with us again, loading up the van, then Mick came with us again to unload. He has been great as Laurie gets stressed, which affects his stomach and also, after a broken back years ago, less able to lift and carry heavy items. It has been a great workout for me again. Luckily, having had a pub In my thirties, I got used to moving heavy barrels around, so I was able to do lots myself. Also fortunately today was 2 degrees cooler, which doesn’t sound much, but made a big difference. We also had fewer heavy things to move.
Tomorrow will definitely be the last ‘van day’, taking our last two easy chairs, garden tools, plants, spare tyres ( for the car), crockery, wine, TV and final kitchen boxes and frozen food.
Tomorrow evening we take back the van...
On either Tuesday or Wednesday we will take the dogs and cats to their new home, probably Tuesday as we took Zaba’s bed today and he isn’t best impressed by sleeping on an eiderdown instead, in fact he followed his bed out of the house and attempted to get into the van to get to it. Bless him, he really wasn’t happy when we took it away!
After we got back, Inga and Mick had invited us for dinner and we went over to them.they had invited us every night so far, but on previous evenings we had just wanted to collapse in a heap at home. Tonight, knowing that almost everything has gone, we were both more relaxed.
Tomorrow, Mick is driving over to Provence to help some other friends move furniture. Inga will help us load up, but then she needs to go home as they are also looking after an elderly dog for another friend and someone needs to be home.
We are just so lucky to have had so many great friends to help us throughout the week....
Roll on Tuesday evening!
