Swelling is Down Went Hiking

I brought Hercules for a walk. It took a while to get there! I wanted to go to one place, but I was passed by several ambulances and firetrucks (over a dozen from two towns!) That is not good for a town under 20,000 people. I don't know what was happening but the road was closed about 100 feet before my turn. So detoured onto the sideroads and looped around to come out a couple of hundred feet past a side road that would lead to my road. Nope. Closed. Couldn't even go down to the other side road. So I had to go several miles out of my way to get back to different sideroads (to avoid the closed road and by now overcrowded back roads) About 45 minutes in all to stop at hiking trails 5 miles from my house! These are very muddy and lots of roots. Not good on my injured ankle, but the dog and I survived.
I even gave a lost hiker directions. (The trails are 3 circles, connected by a straight way under the power lines.) He ignored the suggestion to follow me for 2 minutes to the right-of-way and proceeded to continue the long way around the circle. Well, I tried.
