First two weeks of school

The first two weeks of school are always the hardest. The first two weeks of school during a pandemic were even harder.
But, all the stuff we were worried about....were non-issues. Parents and kids didn't balk about wearing masks. There is so much disinfectant used in between classes and before and after school that I feel totally safe. I told my husband that I truly feel like NOTHING could still be alive in my classroom.
I actually feel like kids may be getting a better education. I have three students in my last period class and a student teacher. Those kids are getting so much attention when they are on campus. The kids have learned to email if they have questions and I think they feel more comfortable asking questions because they are getting so much personal attention.
Physically for me, this has been hard. After five months in my little house, doing all the walking that I do when I am teaching felt great, but my body was totally tired at the end of the day. But, as with anything, after two weeks, I have established a habit and can now challenge myself a little more. I hope to add back a couple of workouts per week.
The good news? With all the extra steps that I get while working I have lost 5 pounds!
