The physical therapist was here again. Exercising is no fun. We had some new ones again, mostly using resistance bands. I get to sit for those, which makes me a little happy. I'm still having trouble with the balancing ones, where I'm not supposed to hang on to anything. It has been hot, so I may try to do most of the moving and stretching ones as soon as I can in the morning. I think I may have left some people with the impression that she shows up, gives me exercises and runs off quickly. Not at all. There are a couple of pushing exercises that I can only do with her here, because I'm pushing against her hands. I've developed a habit of leaning over my cane and walker so, on top of everything else, I need to work on standing up straight. I'm getting tired of these 90+ degree days. Even with little humidity, it's tiring. My wound care nurse put me on an antibiotic for the leg. While the right leg looks healed, I have to keep it under constant compression or the ulcer will open up again. Getting old isn't for sissies.

I, too, thought they were just dumping exercises on your desk/couch/kitchen table/whatever and leaving you to your own devices. After my knee replacement, I had home PT services. I soon came to despise him, not because of him, but because of his insistence that I do what the surgeon ordered. Dedicated health care providers can be a pain...literally. emoticon My ortho doc used to say, "Old age ain't for sissies!" You are both right...no matter how you say it.

Hang in there. As you know, it will be worth it. emoticon

You are so right - you have to be pretty TOUGH to get old! I know when I was going to a physical therapist after surgery they were helping me do exercises that I never would have done on my own. They were painful, since they were pushing the envelope on what I was able to do, And I wasn't doing them in the HEAT! Hang in there. Hopefully you'll heal up quickly, and the exercises will pay off so you're able to stand straight, use good balance and do the things you need to do!

I was confused about the roll of your therapist and I am glad that they do all exercises . The heat is terrible but we seem to have a break and we have also been blessed with an evening breeze. I will be having dinner with my son and his family this evening. I hope you enjoy the start to your weekend.
