Our Last Full Day
Friday, August 14, 2020
Today was Nola's last full day with us this week. She will be back on Saturday at 4:30 PM to eat supper with us and spend the night while her parents go out for their wedding anniversary.
She is the youngest member of her family and my husband and I decided that the three days with us would belong to her. She would decide what we had to eat, where we went, what movie we would watch, what books we would read and what activities we would take part in. She was thrilled and actually sat down with a notebook and wrote everything down. The only parameter was that we would NOT be with any crowds or people we didn't know and we would wear our masks when we were away from home. She must have asked me 50 times if SHE was in control and I would assure her that she was. We had so much fun. We treasure these times because we know that as she gets older, her friends will become more important to her.
There is a possibility that her older sister will also be here with us on Saturday night. I asked her what she thought about that and she said, "Grandma...............I don't want to sound selfish, but I really like it when it is just me here and we can talk all day (and believe me, she does) and I am like "Queen for the day."
We will miss her.
