Try a Little Tenderness

Oh, sleep: you coy tease...
If it's hard for me, at the 49th parallel, I can only imagine what summer light must be like in upper Canada, Alaska, and other northern countries. I guess eye masks are brisk sales.
Otherwise, I'm in a better place emotionally. Been through some dark places (as has leaked into my SP ID, against my better judgment) but that's okay, right? So many of us are overwhelmed with all the things happening in the world - whether they've hit us personally, emotionally, compassionately or all of the above.
When I hit the lowest, I had a minor epiphany; no matter what happens, all I have is Who I Am and What I Have to Give in any situation. And what I will try to give is some joy and kindness.
And that means giving that to myself as well as others.
And that means understanding and reminding myself that I deserve kindness and joy - as does every being on the planet.
Why is it so hard to be good to ourselves sometimes?
