Traveling into darkness and out to the light, 2 1/2 years

A story of my last 2 and ½ years. Simple facts. I was at maintenance in December 2017, when I had a life-threatening emergency and an abdominal surgery (not cancer). It took 6-8 months to recover. During the surgery, a nerve got nicked and I could not raise my right foot. My steps were “spring, ker-flop..” It took a year for the nerve to heal, but it did! From inactivity and just tiredness, my weight floated up to 217 from 185. My aerobics went to nothing. My gut expanded to it former hated rotundness. I slowed way down.
During the Covid lockdown, my bride and I started walking every day, 25-30 minutes. Three weeks ago, we started the GOLO diet, mainly for my wife. It is a sensible diet, with a “magic” pill. I don’t know how magic the pill is, but I have tracked all the intake on Spark and I run about 1600-1900 calories a day which in the past has been a good amount for me to lose weight, especially with purposeful daily walking.
My life continues with my lovely bride of 50 years. I am once again trying to enter the “Anything lower than 200” club. My weight is down 5 pounds and my waist is down 1.25 inches. It’s a start…
