Every year, I like to mention that it's the season to eat purslane. Looks like we will be eating the weed verdolaga, or purslane soon in our fajitas. There are other ways to enjoy,but that's how we like it. It has a lemony taste that is oh so good with mexican food.

I like to shake the seeds where I want them to grow next season. I don't consider them weeds, not just because they are edible, but they are incredibly easy to pull. In fact, they push out weeds that are much, much harder to pull.

Here is an idea of how to cook them. Personally, since my goal is to reduce my cholesterol, I would replace the fresco blanco cheese with tofu feta.

    I am off to harvest some young dandelion leaves today and when I was a kid we always enjoyed fresh leaves of "pigweed" in the spring, better than spinach.

    We used to get those in our flower beds when I was a kid and dad made me pull them all out and compost them. Never knew they were edible until recently and now I can't find them.

    Very resourceful of you. Reminds me of an aunt I had who kept a huge garden and identified wild plants by name for us all when we hiked on camping trips.
