Crowd pleasing bulk cooking link

Monday, April 06, 2020

Here is the first of several planned posts to spread the news about bulk cooking recipes. Why? Because one can use them to make meals ahead of time and freeze-can-dehydrate-&c.

When cooking for a crowd, it is good to have ways to figure out how to do so economically as well as how to not get too little or too many supplies. Even if that crowd comes to get the meals-to-go, we must seek to make sure our community neighbors, friends and family have enough to eat.

If I can figure out that, I wonder why my church cannot. But then, as soon as the church gets back together we are officially resigning and quitting our membership. They've turned out to be just another community that likes to hype itself up, rather than a spot from where mission is achieved by the members to the community.

Jesus ministered to others, even in crowds. The only feeding of the 5,000 many congregations have is feeding themselves or feeding 5K into their own pockets.

Post Script addition 25April20. We could not wait for the pandemic to be over. I went and cleared all my stuff off of the computer I was using for archiving and setting up a Faithlife community for the congregation, and more. I then wrapped the keys up and slid them into the mailbox slot. I got home and texted them. I ignored their replies. I have nothing to say, and I'm already torn up so I didn't need salt poured on my wounds. Thankfully I cling to that side from where life's balm flows freely, for we all bleed silently but Jesus paid it all.

"The symptoms of decay and death in part are the aroma of our self-centered culture from the congregation, it smells like the world. Instead we are supposed to be the aroma of Christ."

Unfortunately true. The flesh just weasels in...give it an inch and it takes a mile. But thank God we have God's assurance of 1 John 2:27. His Word gives peace that exceeds our understanding..Philippians 4:7

Thank you so much. I do big batch cooking. I really like that site.

I understand about church. My friend lives in another town and there is a click of people that have taken over. It has lost the Christ like life of caring for the congregation. Now it is all showmanship and control.

I pray you find a living church.

Thanks for responding, to all who have done so to date. My biggest issue isn't the congregation not ministering to others, but that they've abandoned the Gospel and substituted Post-modern/Modernist hype in several forms, including the need to hype themselves up by repetitively reciting/chanting/singing mindless choruses, and spouting formula sloganeering they find online from Joel Osteen, Starbucks, YouTube.

Not reaching out to others can be a major sign-symptom, but the illness itself is the abandonment of the faith once for all delivered unto the saints (See Jude verse 3).

To be like other religious organizations, to be like our pagan culture, to exalt non-Christians as worthy even in their disbelief is not what we know is written plainly in the Bible and practiced by those who remained faithful through the centuries since even as a remnant among the practicing majority.

Listen, anybody can believe whatever they wish, but I insist that those who reject our understanding of Christian faith should stop taking over existing congregations and making them into their own version of religion.

As in, it is a free country so go start your own churches, and leave the rest of us alone. That's my issue actually. The symptoms of decay and death in part are the aroma of our self-centered culture from the congregation, it smells like the world. Instead we are supposed to be the aroma of Christ.

Thanks for all who've come to respond and encourage my wife and I.

Sorry to hear of your experience. We are blessed to have many congregations in our area reaching out to meet the needs of our local and global communities.
