Morning Walks on my Country Road

I live on a dirt road. There is no tar on this road, just dirt. It gets very muddy in the springtime when the snow melts and I sometimes track the mud into my house. I still like my country road because it is very quiet. When I go out for my early morning walks, no one can hear my footsteps on the dirt road.
There are beavers near the causeway, and sometimes bears cross the road.

I love the stone arch bridge that I have to cross on my morning walks. I walk over a mile past a lot of woods and only 4 houses. I hear lots of birds. The cardinals, orioles, and chickadees all sing their songs along the dirt road. The woodpeckers make their holes as they hunt for bugs to eat. Yesterday I saw baby caterpillars gently falling from the oak trees and start their journey to become butterflies. Their fuzzy little bodies bounce like balls as the come to the ground.

My morning walks are also my time of prayer and meditation. I need this time to pray for friends and family and make plans for what I will do next. My life is more organized because I walk and I pray.
This is why I love my morning walks along my country road.
