Sunday - Time to admit the unthinkable!
Sunday, March 15, 2020
I have been forced to accept that no matter how much I would like to deny it, I am NOT invincible, but at high risk and am already sick so it would be stupid and dangerous to go to work tomorrow regardless of the mandate that we must report. I will call my principal and also my doctor and get an excuse. I can work at home and have Ed deliver any necessary papers to the school for me. If the administration doesn't like it, they can just "Suck it up Buttercup!" and my union reps will support my choice.
I have already been working all weekend on paperwork and end of the marking period grades, etc. I will do what I need to get done and worry about the resf when the crisis is over. Ironically, our state is the last state without a confirmed case of Covid-19 but we are still taking precautions. I wouldn't normally stay home with bronchitis but having it increases my susceptibility to other illnesses especially ones that involve my lungs - one of which is partly collapsed.
Have a blessed and safe day and don't panic! Wash your hands and if you - like me - are over 60 and/or have a compromised immune system of are already sick - stay home enjoy your books, four-legged family members and don't risk your health!
