Coronavirus Mitigation at Work
Thursday, March 12, 2020
Here is something I just sent around our office. If it helps even one of you stay safer at work, well, this is what your Sparkfriend who is an environmental scientist is here for. You are welcome.
We share common touch areas such as the coffee pot, microwave controls, the fridge handle, the soap dispenser, shared fridge and pantry contents like coffee creamer and light switches.
Perhaps less obviously, we also share video-conferencing controls in the conference room, the conference room table and chairs, pool vehicle controls and components, field equipment, sometimes telephones, and door knobs/pulls.
Any of those objects and surfaces can harbor the virus in ways that cannot be seen.
Wash your hands (again, hot water and soap, long-duration like a surgeon on TV - you've all seen the many memes) before and after using or touching anything that is common community property around here. Use disposable paper towels when touching commonly-used things as much as we can.
