Trim Healthy Mama - Total Fail

Hubby was on board with me to try the Trim Healthy Mama diet plan. It calls for a lot of weird ingredients (collagen, gluccie, etc) but we felt we could give it a go. The first recipe that I made from the book was buffalo chicken which called for a whole lot of Frank's Hot Sauce. The meal really didn't agree with hubby and he was violently sick that night and all the next day, then the following day his abdominal muscles were really sore from being so violently sick.

So we waited a while before we tried again.

The next recipe was Cheeseburger soup. It was a no carb soup, but the weird ingredients made it slimy rather than thick. This time I got really ill from it. I suffer from GERD anyway, and about 2 hours after eating it this soup came halfway up my throat and just sat there. I took Zantac and finally ate some sugared ginger. We ate early around 5 p.m., but I didn't feel that I could lie down until about 2 a.m.

The plan calls for giving up traditional baked goods forever and using really weird baking ingredients. At this point hubby said "Don't even try". lol

So hubby said I could either get rid of the Trim Healthy Mama books, or he would. We'll take them to the used book store in the summer. I'm going there anyway. From now on NO FUNNY BUNNY DIETS!!!!! We'll stick to tried and true sustainable lifestyles and lose slowly but permanently.

    I have found that these non traditional diets are not healthy in the long run. SOrry you both got ill.

    That sounds really unpleasant and difficult.

    A sheet pan.
    A pile of veg.
    A bit of low sodium seasoning.
    A protein.
    Shove in oven, amazing healthy, low carb real food with no effort.

    I agree you don't need those silly diets especially when they use words like eat this never again .. i like the spark guy diet eat healthy and foods that "normal foods '' and ones we will eat once we reach our goal. I remember i book i bought in the 1980's Diets don't work ''

    I can relate. I don't believe in one size fits all diet. There is a diet for everyone and it isn't the same diet. I can't do a lot of hot sauce. I don't like anything slimy. I'm really picky and have G.I. issues. I also use candied ginger for GERD and it works great. I don't do trendy diets as they are too weird for me. The best popular diet I have been on is South Beach.

    That's why I like South Beach. Only been on it 3 full days and I am down 5 pounds in Phase 1. emoticon
