Fighting

Tuesday, March 03, 2020

I am definitely in the maintenance fight now. I started exercising more consistently and gained 5 pounds on the scale. So, I went from 155 to 160. After reading up on this, I found that I am one of those people who gain muscle weight very fast: From a test I got the following results ( I put the part in caps that said I gain muscle easily. YOU ARE PRIMARILY A MESOMORPH. You have a naturally fit body but, to maintain or improve it, you should adopt an exercise and diet regimen that complements your build. You can strength train more often and for longer periods of time, but be careful not to overdo it. Train with moderate to heavy weights and keep a moderate pace, making sure not to rest too long between sets. If you train and eat well, you may find YOU GAIN MUSCLE QUITE EASILY. When you're happy with your muscle size, simply train to maintain. Stick to a good, healthy diet to stay lean and muscular, and watch for any slow-creeping fat gains. Engage in and enjoy aerobic activities, but be careful not to overdo it. FIGHTING TO KEEP IT OFF So it is a fight. After reading some more of my Protein Power book, I went through the food in my kitchen. I should be eating 55 grams of carbs and 70 grams of protein. There is a choice to eat only 30 grams of carbs, but I have to work to that. If 55 works, I will stay with it. MICRONUTRIENT INTAKE I have the protein intake down, but I did not realize how many carbs I was eating everyday. Did you know that Thomas Sourdough english muffins have 27 grams of carbs, with no fiber. The oatmeal I eat has 31 grams with only 4 grams of fiber. I ususally eat a bowl of oatmeal with one english muffin and a tablespoon of Smuckers jam (13 grams, no fiber). Even though that is only 340 calories for breakfast. I had no protein and over 71 grams (67 net) of carbs. My whole carb allowance, and more in one meal. No wonder I am having a hard time keeping it down. WATCHING THE CARBS So. I am going to be working on watching the carbs. This morning I had 2 egg and bacon crumbled in, with a small avocado. That came to 351 calories with 25 grams of protein and 8 grams of carb. Doing good. My protein should be at least 23 grams per meal. My carbs no more than 18 per meal. I'm still learning about the fat. As long as it is good fat, I am ok for now. Thank you Lord for wisdom.

Wow...impressive! As the saying goes, “knowledge is power” and it sure seems to me that you have analyzed the situation and know what you need to do. Kudos!
