Young at Heart!

Every Saturday I visit with my 97-year-old Mom in the Quabbin Rehabilitation Center. We have a wonderful time with friends, crafts, singing and (of course) a donut or two for “the Mama”. I always bring a lot of things just to make our time special. Yesterday I brought a picture of my parents when they were just dating.
Mom smiled as she looked at the picture, and touched my Dad’s face. She said nothing, but her actions showed love and gentleness. I knew that Mom remembers my Dad, the love of her life.
The nurses and CNAs were watching as Mom kept her eyes on my Dad.
When I asked Mom if she’d like the picture to be taped next to her bedside, someone handed me the tape. Mom’s friend Dolly looked at the photo, and loved it too!
This old photo from the 1940s sparked some new love and life in my Mom.
One thing I’ve learned is that the heart is always young when it is full of love!
