Buca Di Beppo

I got invited to my great nephew's birthday party. It was to be at Buca Di Beppo. Just what I need! I was beginning to see progress in my eating habits. I often hit the right ratios without plotting it all out in advance. My problem with Buca is the giant plates of food which you can't really measure and calorie counts that don't include portion size.
My niece and sister and I planned to get a salad and split it. We also got the shareable side of brussels sprouts. I had snagged a brochure that contained calorie counts so I thought I would be able to track what I ate. The huge salad was supposed to serve 5. Calories were 630 or something. The brussels sprouts were 180, but nowhere did it say how many servings were in the order.
I was stressing out until I realized that it really didn't matter exactly how many calories I consumed at a single meal. The point was that I was aware of what I was eating and not just determined to fill my plate with everything I could reach. Just because I didn't choose the food didn't mean I had to overeat. I was able to enjoy the company and eat reasonable portions.
I was a little nervous because my annual physical is scheduled for tomorrow. I want my numbers to be better than they were last year.I don't know if they will be but I know I feel more in control of my eating than I have in quite awhile. If my numbers haven't improved, I'm sure they will. I don't know how long it takes for your body chemistry to change once the healthy eating begins. I hope something shows up but if it hasn't, I may just need to go back for a recheck in 6 months or something.
