Wednesday - I am glad we are over the hump
Wednesday, February 12, 2020
Today started with the news that one of my coworkers and a good friend would not be in school today because her daughter (in her 30s and with 3 kids) had gone into cardiac arrest last night. She is in ICU and on life support. I know and have worked with both mother and daughter for more than 15 years. I know her kids and her nieces and nephews. This is devastating and it hits us very hard. There are at least four of us who have lost children over the years and each time it gets a bit harder to face. There is no word yet of what happened but the prognosis is not good at all.
That started a chain of events that meant the day went from bad to worse. Two students had major behaviors and were sent home - one for the afternoon and the other for a 3 day suspension. The kids didn't go to their related arts classes because we were short two adults who supervise them while I have lunch and planning period. We decided to eat out but instead of my egg, cheese and sausage muffin, I got a half toasted muffin with a single slice of bacon and a single slice of cheese - NOT a very appetizing lunch.
I am still cranky and out of sorts but there isn't much I can do but head home, get to bed early, and pray for a better day tomorrow. Prayers for friends Lisa and Pam (daughter) and the entire family as this is going to be devastating regardless of how it works out in the end,
Be blessed and a blessing to all those around you. You never know just what tragedies people are contending with today.
