Goal Reached!

Tuesday, February 04, 2020

Been plateaued for some time, and still trying to keep my blood glucose normalized.

I have a possible diagnosis of MS, so that keeps me struggling day to day.

Recently, I bought the Wahl's Protocol book which is supposed to help MS symptoms. I haven't read the book yet, but I think I've been at the level 1 for some time as I gave up gluten. I have had many improvements in my body since then, but am struggling so hard in other ways. That's why you don't see me posting online much. It is very hard for me to do. I am physically unable to do it, and it causes me much pain when I do.

I need to increase my veggie amount a lot per the protocal; so I am bringing out my spiralizer. I am going to start eating veggie "pasta" as it really helps with my diabetes to be lower carb.

I recently am consuming 50 net grams of carbs per day from 125 grams of carbs. I finally made my goal of 225! As of today, I am 224. Now I will set my next goals.

Always know I am thinking about you Spark pals and hoping for the best. Take small changes at a time and incorporate them into your life. That is what is working for me.

God speed in your endeavors!

    emoticon on your goal!!
Lately, my favorite easy veggies are roasted. Not necessarily fast b/c of the roasting process taking a while, but the prep is fast and easy. And once it's in the oven, there's nothing to do but wait. And everything is so delicious roasted. I also prep a lot of fresh crisp style veggies (like green beans, brussels sprouts, broccoli) in a skillet, fill the bottom with the vegs, add about 1/4 c water, cook on medium to medium high, until water evaps, then add like a half teaspoon of oil or butter and stir it until they brown a teeny bit. Sometimes I deglaze the pan with red wine or a red wine/soy sauce combo. This makes a little bit of sauce that clings on. This really doesn't take much time or effort, but tastes so good. The added oil or butter only adds about 40 calories to the whole dish.

Happy to see you reached your goal and that you are hanging in there. That gluten is a real problem for many. I have to watch it so as to not get inflammation and all that pain that goes with it, Take care of yourself Becca. emoticon

I hope you don't have MS. I have R.A. so I know the problems you are dealing with. Some days it takes a lot of energy to just get out of bed and take care of yourself. You are making some good changes for your condition and have already made some in the past like getting rid of the gluten and controlling your blood sugar. I really hate you having to struggle so much. I know how that is. I have limited energy so I have to pace myself. I do things in short spurts, then rest. I try not to sit longer than 20 minutes at a time or it is hard for me to get going again. There are some things I can't do any more, like lifting and carrying heavy bags of feed. Lower carb helps me too. Congratulations on meeting your goal. You are an awesome person and I will be praying for you.

Hugs and good health to you! I've never tried spiralized noodles. How do they taste? I like spaghetti squash and imagine it's similar?

I have a partner with MS. Hugs to you and wishing you an easy path ahead.

    Excellent.
Wahls is one diet, an updated Swank is also good, cleancuisine.com also. One size does not fit all. Most look for 5 -9 fruit/veg a day. No gluten, yeast, white sugar, dairy. Check out the MS Gym. They do have a freebie.

Becca, Congrats on losing weight to your goal! And for working on your way of eating, fine tuning it to suit your current circumstances!

I've heard from more than one person online that the book you mention has some very good advice and it works for a lot of people to diminish your symptoms in various ways. The only way you'll know how it works for you is follow it carefully.

I found a lot of Keto vegetarian meals online so I could go really low carb and not give up my veggies. I still believe they are so good for us. Besides spiralizing veggies, also try riced veggies and oven roasted ones. So many great ways to get more veggies in your diet!

I hope some or all of this helps you. I didn't realize you were having issues like this but I know I have been missing you online!

Keep on researching and trying. It's always too soon to give up!

Congratulations! I have struggled with my weight for my entire life and it wasn't until I started to significantly lower my carb intake that I too began to see results. I think you are on the right track with your MS. My sister has MS and since going gluten free she has seen a significant reduction in inflammation. Good luck to you!
