Numbers, Numbers

Friday, January 31, 2020

I know we aren't supposed to get obsessed with numbers on the scale and need to focus on non-scale measures of improved health and fitness. That being said, hypocrite that I am, I decided to look at another number that I hadn't checked in awhile--my BMI. Is that any better--no, but at least it's something different than obsessing over my weigh-in.
Surprise, I had not only slipped well out the state of "Morbidly Obese," into the next state of "Obese," I am almost three quarters of the way to the border of "Overweight." I know it's sad that someone would get excited about being overweight, but there you have it! My BMI is 32.7 and I need to lose another 14# to cross the border--this is doable with some persistence. I am writing this down not because I am delusional enough to think it of interest to anybody, but as a public commitment to reach that next sensible, moderate goal.
Wishing all Sparklers success in reaching their next goal, no matter how small or insignificant you consider it--even a little progress toward better health and fitness is progress. God bless.

I, like you, know that the BMI is just one number but, also, I like to look at it on occasionally. It's funny, I am really excited for losing the next 20 pounds when I will be clinically "overweight" (and not obese)
