My Last Few Months
Wednesday, January 22, 2020
Hi Spark friend, thought I would update you on what has been going on in my life for the past few months.
Last Oct. I broke my little finger on my left hand. It was pretty swollen, even with icing it, so figured it was sore from being swollen. The swelling went down finally just before my appointment with my primary doctor in Nov. So I mentioned it. She had x-rays done, and she said you need to see a hand surgeon, your finger is broken. Saw the hand surgeon said we need to do surgery. You have a break, plus a piece that broke off and is dangling in the nerve or tendon ( not sure which he said). So two days before Thanksgiving I had hand surgery. Wore a special splint made just for my finger after one week.
Now two months later (last Thursday ), they took me back into surgery to remove the two splints that they had put in the finger. Then tell me don't use the hand again, real fun.
This past Monday went for physical therapy evaluation, and had the big bandage taken off, stitches still in. This morning when I took the light dressing of the stitch one the front of my finger had come out on its own. I then went to my first session of PT this afternoon. After not using my left hand for almost 9 weeks, by the time I was done with therapy my hand really enjoyed the hot packing it received. So stitches on the back of the finger hopefully will come out next Monday when I see the hand surgeon. I will have my next therapy on my hand next Monday too. I now can use my left hand but not for anything strenuous and no lifting of any weight yet either. So I continue to plug along doing the little that I can and hope for the4 best outcome eventually.
