Feeling Disappointed With SparkTeams

Wednesday, December 04, 2019

Hi everyone :)

Welcome to my new SparkPage and Blog Post. I was a member before, but losing my login information and with the changes in my life, I decided to create a whole new profile. So here I am.

I discovered while going through all the groups, that even with the ones that have around 1500 to 2000 members that they had become inactive. I know that we all have good intentions when we create a new group, but it Is disappointing to the new members who are really wanting support for like minded individuals. My suggestion is to only start a group if you know that you can devote the time to keep it going. This also is for members as well. Only join those groups that you really want to devote the time to keep it active.

Hoping that all of you are having a good morning, evening, or night in your part of the world.

I understand what you mean about the Spark teams. I have found some before that looked good, but would go check them out and find that no one posts there much at all.

I think the Spark teams were better before they started the Team Walls and the Community Feed. Back when people on teams actually had to start new topics in the Team Forums, there was much better quality support and feedback. That's just my two cents worth.

Stressed Out Women Getting Healthy is one of the best teams although few participate but Mama is the leader and she is totally involved as it is her team.

Go to community and come down to teams click and then in the search put that title.

Some may join just for information
Some just don't want to post
Some leave Spark and don't delete accounts
Some join and forgot they joined
And some are active in the Team

As a Spark Team Leader, I am happy with members using it how they see fit.
As a full time working mother, I am as active as time allows.

    Have a wonderful day!

I totally agree with you ! I'm having the same problems with the team I'm leader on. I've been asked to be leaders several times on other teams, but politely decline. I want to be able to devote myself to the team, & I just do not have the time. It wouldn't be fair to the team members or myself. I'm on several other teams just as a member & most of them are inactive except for me. I just can't bring myself to quit them., When I commit myself to something, I follow through. But...... that being said, I think I will be quitting some of them soon. I've been the only one checking in for over a yr. !
    Good luck to you.

    WELCOME TO THE CAMPING SP'ers !!! Hope to see you around a lot ! ; }

    KEEP SPARKLING !!!

I agree that there seems to be a lot of teams/groups with a large amount of members but are really inactive. And there are many teams that have been inactive for more than 90 days that are still listed - would be nice if those teams that are inactive that long would be deleted.

Wishing you well on your journey

Several factors determine how intense the disappointment is experienced. Disappointment is the feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of expectations. First of all, it depends on how important the hoped-for thing is to you. When you think you have very little control over the situation, emotions emerge that make you feel things do not turn out the way you wanted them. Feeling disappointment implies that you do not feel that you can (currently) change much about it.

PWILLOW1 has given good advice. Stick to a team that gives you the most information & learning anything new that is of value to you. One should never stop learning and growing. Challenging yourself to learn something new every day is beneficial. Proper management of expectations, and what you have control over should include resources available to you that help.

HEY PORTIA, MY FIRST SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO PICK 1 OR 2 TEAMS AND GIVE IT YOUR ALL RATHER THAN BELONGING TO 114 TEAMS. WHEN I FIRST JOINED SPARK SEVERAL YEARS AGO I WAS WITH ANOTHER TEAM BUT WAS NOT PLEASED WITH IT SO I LEFT IT. THEN I JOINED THIS TEAM AND I HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK. SHERRE IS A WONDERFUL LEADER AND I FEEL LIKE I KNOW HER PERSONALLY. I FEEL LIKE I AM GETTING AS MUCH SUPPORT AS I AM GIVING PROBABLY EVEN MORE. I THINK MANY OF US COME IN AS OFTEN AS WE CAN. i NEVER WORRY ABOUT THE ONES WHO DON'T COME IN. THAT IS THEIR PROBLE AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THEM. I FIND I GET MORE SUPPORT FROM GETTING TO KNOW FEWER PEOPLE WELL.
SORRY FOR GOING ON AND ON. I DO HOPE THAT YOU WILL BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER ON THIS TEAM. JOIN SOME OF THE FUN THINGS TO DO. TELL US WHAT YOUR CHALLENGE IS FOR THE MONTH AND THEN REPORT EVERY FEW DAYS ON HOW YOU ARE DOING WITH IT. JUST COME IN TO THE CHAT LINE AND HAVE A VISIT. WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE OF YOU.

I like to stay involved with the teams that I lead. There are a couple of teams that I lead that I cannot get much participation. Even adding different threads haven't helped. It is all a matter of the members at times.....some are interested in comments are some aren't. I really agree that the team leaders must stay involved daily.

I agree.. I am always wondering what can we do to keep the new people that join..a lot of teams that are particular subject if you look at the threads there is not one thread that has to do with the subject..or if a new person joins Sparkpeople and post a blog no one goes back to check on them...and also the person who is joining has to ask themselves what is it that I need the most from the team..I sure there is an answer somewhere in the middle.

emoticon I have joined some teams using the description as means to make my decision, only to find they are inactive. I leave the team and look for another. I like the teams I'm on, but I just use them for an uplift each day.

It can be tricky, I agree! Keep looking, though. I bet you'll find a supportive set of Spark friends, who can make a big difference for you!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but, I am wondering does SparkPeople have a tutorial on how to operate the program? I mean I'm paying Premium and I'm sure I'm only using an 1/8 % of what it can do. I emailed Tech Support, no reply, sent the email 2 weeks ago.

Would appreciate any help. I don't know how to get to the message boards, or the groups that I've been invited to.

    Thanks,
    Nancy

While you have a point, I would like to say how frustrating being a leader can be when there is no support from its members. Sometimes, just starting on thread on a team can jumpstart some life into an old group. Introduce yourself on the team and see if you get some traction.

incredibly though.. life happens..everyone has things come up in their lives which cause them to loose interest in teams.. some join teams in the hopes of exploring...others just because SP recommended it to them'

And like you people come up and go on SP , start new profiles or loose interests but never close down their original accounts.

so that really is not a fair statement
