Need to pay more attention!

I stepped on the scale today and was shocked to see what eating without thinking over the most recent holiday can do to my weight. Even though I go to the YMCA nearly everyday and walk 5 to 7 miles each day, I must still pay attention to the amount of food I put on my plate. I can remember when I was a kid and even in my 20's and 30's that I could indulge on holidays and not gain too much weight but now that I am in my 70's, that is no longer my story.
Since we have another holiday this month, I decided to start early and practice my meal watch with a focused eye on amounts of food on my plate. I do have measuring cups and a scale so I can begin the practice today. With Breakfast and Lunch completed accurately, my hope is to finish the day without forgetting my task for the day. I put a sign on my desk, near the computer, so I will see it often throughout the day. Also I have the Spark People Web site to record my meals and watch the calorie accumulation.
Hopefully, if I can stay focused, next month at this time I will not upset with weight gain but instead remembering the happy times with family and friends during the holiday.
