November 13, 2019 NO FAMILY IS PERFECT
There is a saying about how we can’t pick our family but we can choose our friends. There is another saying about accepting what we can’t change. Drawing from these two sayings means we should accept the family we have been given and do what we can to make the best of it. Some people have great family lives and some don’t. Either way, we can make plans and set goals to improve our family life. God wants us to honor and love others. That includes family. Sometimes it’s hard but God can help.
1 Timothy 5:8 “But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.” (NLT)
1. Write what you do care for your family.
2. List actions you could take to show love and kindness to your family.
3. Know God wants you to care for your family.
4. Make time for your family each week and show them God’s love.
Dear Lord, we know we can’t pick our family. But You did. You chose our earthly family. You created us for the very purpose of living together, growing old together, and helping one another. We know we are to honor Your precious children who You bless us with. We are to help our families showing them Your love. We are to care for the elderly in our families who need attention and help. Show us how to live on purpose with one another to care for our families and share Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are to remember children are a gift from God and treat them in a way that honors Him.
Psalm 127:3 “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” (NLT)
Proverbs 24:3 "It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong." (NCV)
Deuteronomy 5:16 “Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” (NLT)
God knew who our families would be before we were even born. He created us for our family and we are to honor Him by caring for them.
Jeremiah 1:5a “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” (NLT)
