Inspired by SWEETENUFGILL, food banks in the Summer.
Tuesday, July 16, 2019
Recently sparkfriend SWEETENUFGILL blogged about finding money on the floor and using it to buy food for a food bank. I found some and nobody was around, so decided to do the same thing.
Over the Summer food banks can be even more stretched with children not getting fed in school.
Most of us are here because we have too much food in our daily lives.
This is not a luxury shared by all.
A donation to a food bank could mean somebody can concentrate in a job interview, a child can succeed in school, that a mother need not leave herself hungry to feed her child instead.... the knock on effects of a decent chance of food can be huge.
And it doesn't have to cost much, stores own budget brands of pasta cost 30p, rice 50p, tinned tomatoes 30p... donate one item makes a difference to somebody. Or several identical items helps then share things out evenly. I put lots of bags of pasta in today.
Think if you can afford 50p or 50c to help, the answer is often yes.
