I'd forgotten just how full on it can be with a five year old staying over.
Bless him, he's as good as gold but he never stops, there's certainly no time to let the grass grow under you!
He's been a good help to DH in the garden, filling feeders for the birds and feeding the fish, helping him with netting up the vegetables to keep off the pesky pigeons, hoeing the weeds at the back of the shed which we're trying to use for more growing space once the concrete has been removed...he loved cracking it up with a hammer!
Even when supposedly 'I'm having a rest grandma', it was question and after question or 'will you play Jenga' or 'can I colour in and use your best pens grandma' or will you help me make a pom-pom' or 'shall we do a jigsaw'...he even helped get lunch ready and wash up afterwards.
We spent time at the play park where he ran around contentedly most of the afternoon before we drove into town and strolled along the harbour top watching the boats and enjoying the sea air.
His 'bestest ever' ice-cream was bought...lol...a double cone vanilla as 'vanilla is my favourite grandma'.
He's gone back home now and the house is so quiet, it's funny how you long for a bit of peace and quiet and when you get it you wish it was back as it was before...we're nothing if not fickle!
Digging a root of potatoes for tea.
Staking the peas.
Feeding the birds.
A stroll along the harbour top.
Fun in the play park.
He made a new friend.
The 'bestest ever' ice-cream, a double cone vanilla...yum!
