A SP trivia question I saw today was "exercise is just as effective for depression as medication."
Their answer was true.

As a retired Psych nurse, I have to disagree. For someone who is clinically depressed, not just feeling "the blues" medication may be necessary. I have major depression, recurrent, currently in remission. I still take my prescribed medication.Before I was diagnosed, I had depression while going to aerobics classes 4 times a week. Yes, exercise can help, and is usually recommended by providers, but for some it is not the be-all, end-all treatment. Saying that exercise is just as effective as medicine may leave some readers thinking their depression is their fault - if I just exercised more I'd be cured.

Let's help people with depression by not blaming them for their condition. Let's make the distinction between "the Blues" and clinical depression.
