As I prepare for the summer challenge I find myself at a place where the habits I have formed with the help of SparkPeople and the 5% Challenges have helped me to maintain my goal weight for 18 months. But I know I need to remain motivated to be the healthiest I can be for my family and for myself.
The 5% Challenge Community is unlike other Spark Teams which are mostly based on a specific topic.
Every 5% Community Member reserves a virtual seat on a virtual plane, which will virtually race to exciting cities around the world. The Community team is like the first major airport we take off from. Each successive, (and successful), week, we race to a new City and track a healthy lifestyle activity.
The Individual Challenge teams are in a friendly competition to reach each destination city as quickly as they can. Each of these teams has 5 or 6 Co-Leaders.
The 5% Challenge Teams are very active teams. There are expectations of you as a member. You will record your daily exercise minutes and Living the Good Life points (future Weekly Challenge themes) by Friday midnight each week. Also you will record your weekly weigh in by Saturday 11:59 PM. If you decide to join, you will be assigned a team, and your Team Leader and teammates will be there to help you and answer your questions on how to do this.
I love being a member of the Teddy Bears, but I'm sure others are just as enthusiastic to be part of their team like the Cloverleafs, Rowdy Rebels, Shooting Stars, Spirited Under Dawgs, Champions in the Kitchen, Casual Travelers, Awesome A Team, Walkers, Runners, Joggers & Gadgeteers, Firecrackers, Determined Daisies, Weight Warriors, and Starfish. We engage in a friendly competition among teams to put in the most activity minutes which directly get converted to miles as we race from one famous location to another around the globe.
