May Day (Mayday)

Wednesday, May 01, 2019

On the 29th of this month, it will be my SparkPeople 10th anniversary. In the first year, I lost 150 pounds. In just about 2 years after that, I gained almost all of it back. It is small consolation that I have never gotten all the way back to my highest weight. Right now I am about 20 pounds under it. I am also 10 years older and it is a lot harder to carry now. I hurt almost all the time. I have been bouncing up and down in a 50 pound range for 7 years. It has to stop. I need to recall whatever it was that I had 10 years ago and start taking better care of me.

I've been here 11 years now, and I've never achieved goal weight... YET. I lose weight very slowly, but I don't regain it.

For me, that's a really important distinction. The thing is, while I'm making plans, developing strategies, learning new habits, structuring my life for success life keeps happening and demanding my attention in other ways. So, as frustrated as I am at not YET being where I want to be, I don't have the luxury of being continuously focused on weight loss, and there's a price to be paid for that. The one thing I am certain about is that the answers aren't to found in the past. At any given moment, with every life change, I have to change and adjust, too, yet still keep moving forward in small ways. What worked five years ago, doesn't work NOW. Every day I have to adjust and do what works this day to respect my goals. Another key factor to maintaining as I go is having established a foundation of core LIFESTYLE habits and attitudes that work every day no matter how distracted and unmotivated I feel... habits that support my goals no matter whatever else in my life is working, or isn't. It's about living now, every day, the same way you're going to be living at 20 40, 80 lbs. from now and at goal weight.

Think hard and find your reason why ~ it is so important to have that in mind. It helps you make the better choices, say no to junk food and say yes to exercise. There are many seated exercise videos here on Sparkpeople and You tube. Start slow and build up the minutes it helps so much on the weight loss.
I will be here to cheer you on ~ I was off site for 18 months and gained back 50 of the 90 pounds I lost but I am back and working harder to get to my goals.
