My Recovery Progress

Saturday, April 06, 2019

Got home from Ann Arbor yesterday and the surgeon did take all the rest of my teeth out this time including my wisdom teeth. After a long night in the ER last night because I felt sick real late last night. The ER doctor said it was probably cause got dehydrated since couldn't drink anything after losing all the blood cause couldn't stop bleeding so before discharged me gave me some fluids through an IV. I agreed that was probably it plus since couldn't take my meds without food I also felt like I had been off my meds too long. Haven't stopped bleeding completely yet but the good thing is that it's slowing down a lot to almost stopped. Yay Takes a lot of my worry and stress down. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Woke up with my jaws on both sides slightly swollen and left side really bothering me. Don't know why but I am sure that on side bothering me I am feeling a chip of a tooth with my tongue. Am going to try to keep tongue off of that area if I can. Usually tongue feels that chip and the long stitches when drink and eat. Cause of how my jaw is feeling today going to talk very little. emoticon emoticon emoticon

By the way didn't ever say what my menu is like for a little while, it is a cold liquid and mushy diet. Say mushy cause I'm allowed applesauce and cottage cheese when feel like am able to eat that. Also am allowed soup as long as room temperature don't agree with that. Have to have my soup at least slightly warmed cause cold soup don't taste good at all. Right now though all want is milk shake eaten with a spoon, smoothies, jello, pudding, yogurt drinks, frozen yogurt and fruit juice bars, and ice cream. Oh yeah and Campbell's Soup at Hand.

Yesterday woke with a sore and scratchy throat, today throat just scratchy, Just finished drinking a strawberry milk shake and had to gum my lunch which was the fish off fish sandwich at Burger King and a little bit of fries. At least able to eat solids even if had to only eat a little bit of it. Breakfast is usually just an Ensure with lots of protein and when have the money some scrambled eggs a little later at one of my favorite restaurants down the street.

Haven't posted on here for while now but haven't really had anything good to add to it. Well today can finally post something positive so I am. For a little while had a sore in my nose that caused lots of pain, but can now say it is healed and completely gone. Also the open sores caused the drain had to have cause of the infection in my jaw and where had done cause of it in the past is finally closing up. Honestly it's about time they started healing. Now next thing waiting to heal more is my gums and jaw so can open mouth more and finally get my dentures started.

Took look where had trach and drain and both are about healed up. Finally both are closing up so as soon as gums get unswollen can have dental x-ray done and get my dentures started.

Yesterday had appointment with the nurse practitioner, Kathy Smith about my recovery. I finally made it to a post op appointment after all this time. Well she agreed with me when thought I was completely recovered. She even did the x-ray I wanted to see if there was any bone left from having all my teeth extracted. Happily the x-ray showed that there was no bone and that my gums were completely healed. No when get a new dentist can have my dentures started. Yay will finally get my teeth back.

Took long time to completely recover and so glad to be fully recovered. One thing I never want to go through again. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon everyone
