Vacationing mindfully (I hope)

I have been a member of SparkPeople for a long time, and this has helped me lose and keep off the weight. Now, I will have to try winging it for a bit.

My husband’s grandmother turns 90 next month (such a blessing!), and the entire extended family is going to Sri Lanka to celebrate. During our 3 weeks overseas, my access to computers and wifi will be very limited. This means I will have to be mindful of my food and water intake and exercise. The food is a small concern as there will be plenty of fresh seafood, spicy dishes, and fruit. Bottled water is plentiful so no worries there.

Exercise, on the other hand … I usually go on vacation alone or with my son, so workouts are easy to plan. My husband owns his own business and is a total couch potato when he is not working. He will not be coming out to walk/jog with me, and I am not sure how safe it will be for me to work out outside alone. We will be doing some snorkeling but not every day. Just hoping that the hotels have gyms.

So, this will be a big test of all the lessons I have learned over the years using Spark. Crossing my fingers and hoping I can hang in without my backup! I will report on my success (or failure) when we return in late April.
