Finding Strength to Start Again
Thursday, February 21, 2019
You know that phrase "It's not how many times you fall, it's how many times you get back up that matters", well I'm trying to get this into my head.
I'm not usually one to share my personal life much, but I have gone through a very difficult year. In the 6 months between May and November 2018, I had 6 people pass away and I also suffered a leg injury from a fall while on vacation. In less than 5 months, both my mother and mother-in-law passed away. My mother had been given 6-12 months to live on May 3rd and was gone on May 19th-way too fast.
I have been through challenging times before-my dad also passed very quickly back in November 2014, but this past year has been crazy. I have always been the strong, reliable one, so this has thrown me for a loop to be struggling with my emotions.
I know that I need to take care of myself in order to be a good mother and wife, so I have started again. I'm tracking my food and trying to get more active, but it's definitely challenging and slow going. My niece is getting married in August, so I'm trying to use that event as another motivator.
I want other people who are struggling to "start again" to know that even little steps in the right direction will still move you toward a positive outcome. As my hubby would say "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time", so just keep going!
