Why I started Spark People and why I won't quit

Five years ago Jan. 31st I had 5 heart bypasses quite unexpectedly - no heart attack just God getting me to the right doctor(s). I thought that would be enough to make me change my habits. It wasn't. In April my husband suffered a ruptured achilles tendon and in June was diagnosed with Parkinson's (no tremors, just slow movements). Doctors recommended eating changes and exercise. My diabetes A1C reached 8.3 and my doctor put me on Victoza, but my insurance wouldn't cover it so they gave me a substitute. I was drastically allergic. Even though I had paid $500 for the first month, I could no longer take it. My insurance wouldn't cover any other. Doc said "lose 20 pounds and you won't need it." Bingo! My sister, Mary, had been doing Spark People and losing weight, getting fit, and looking great. Last summer she recommended I join her in the BLC 38. I did. What a great change in my life. I had lost 5 pounds before joining, but since then I've lost another 25 pounds and my A1C is down to 6.5. My clothes are getting so loose I need to sew or shop. My pants are getting too long. I'm down 3 sizes. People are beginning to notice. I feel great. I exercise EVERY day except Sunday. I stop eating at 6 or 6:30 pm, limit desserts to one on the weekend and cook most meals. Now if I could just get my husband to exercise more. He suffered a stroke in September so our heart healthy meals help both of us. I don't ever want to go back to my old weight or eating habits or lack of exercise. I want to LIVE for God and my grandkids. I want to do what God has planned for me and I was not doing so. He saved me for a reason.
