Weight Loss Wrecking Ball!
Saturday, January 19, 2019
I'm being a couch potato today...so I thought I could at least read some SP articles and write a blog. I read the article "65 of the Most Motivating Mantras." They were all good but two of them really struck a cord with me.
#4 - Slipping backwards? You may be backing up to get a running start. - Dan Millman I related this one to weight loss. When we are losing weight, we often hit a low number and then see a rebound on the scale (though we are doing all the right things). I call it a blip and don't take it too seriously and just call it a maintenance day and wait out the return of the previous number or less. But this mantra gave me another idea. It gave me the wrecking ball idea. A wrecking ball can't just hit a wall and keep going and going. It has to bounce back and take another swing to be effective. Yes...I like that. When I'm seeing a blip, I can rejoice...my weight loss wrecking ball is just winding up for another swing at my weight loss to break me through to the next number. I like it! (Today was a maintenance day...but the weight loss wrecking ball is swinging forward and a weight loss day is in my near future!)
#16 - Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. - Jim Ryan I absolutely agree with this one. Quite frankly, what got me motivated to get going and get back to SP was a new highest number on the scale...I felt I had to do something...I could not just keep gaining and gaining...my clothes were starting to be tight and some were not fitting. So, that got me started. But now I can feel the habit of planning my meals and tracking my eating kicking in. I'm so happy about that. I know when a good thing becomes habit, then it is going to be easier and it's going to be long-lasting...and that's what I need. I have a long way to go and it will be a long, slow road. So, I have to keep to the journey. With habit pulling me along, I can do it.
We are under a Winter Storm Warning. So far, we have just had a lot of rain. We are lucky in that we are currently predicted for only about an inch of snow in the end. We are on the edge of the storm. It's predicted to be a lot worse north of us. Sorry guys.
Hope you all have a great Saturday! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on!
