My 49 Year Old Tree
Tuesday, January 01, 2019
This is Christmas 1969. Can you see the baby under the tree? Baby Jeannie (Hayburner1969) was 3 months old and I sent this photo to DH who left for Vietnam right after she was born.
Here’s the same tree this morning.
Many of the ornaments were also on that tree in 1969. More were acquired from our travels.
I made the tree skirt decades ago from material from my maternity clothes and the baby clothes of our 3 children. Every year it’s a visual reminder of “the way we were”.
I wonder how many other trees are approaching their “Golden Anniversary?”
The tree is a 6 ft “Scotch Pine”
My Dad & I bought it in Sears for $30.
We got our money’s worth and it has even outlasted Sears!
Happy New Year to all my Spark Friends and all the thousands who visit this site for the resources and support to be the best they can be.
Special New Year’s photos and wish for my favorite Sparker – Hayburner1969
Wondering what the future will bring (September 1969)
Thankfully the future turned out pretty great
At her best in 2016
