Down the "Medical Rabbit Hole"

Wednesday, December 26, 2018

I have been MIA from Spark people for quite a long time. If interested, this is what has been happening, I will try to make it brief ;)

All my Spark Friends know that I was working a very stressful job. I allowed my boss to put a lot of stress on me for a lot of years. I was the only employee for a 80+ year old lawyer. I worked for him for 14 years. His office is still open. His clients were dwindling, the ones he had were not paying so he had to cut my pay (a lot). I could not take a pay cut, so I had to look for work elsewhere. I hired a part-time person for him and I found a new job. My new job is with a law firm (law is all I really know). I now am working with a firm who does only construction law. Construction law is not as stressful as personal injury, criminal law, family law and all the other area of law I was dealing with. Now I deal with pipe, water damage, design flaws, stucco problems.... those kind of issues.

While all of the changes at work were happening I was getting sick, achy all over, very foggy minded and bloated. I gained weight and just kept gaining weight. Stressed, yes... I kept going to the doctor he kept giving me blood test after blood test. He could not pin point anything specific thing wrong. My immune system (autoimmune) system was off the charts high, but the doctor(s) did not know why.

After so many tests with no answers... I took matters into my own hands. I started listening to You Tube videos that dealt with the symptoms that I had. Over and over Food Allergy videos kept coming up. I stumbled on Dr. Steven Gundry's channel. he wrote The Plant Paradox. I got the book and read it. I have slowly started to implement his eating plan. I have not gone all the way to incorporating his plan yet because of the holidays and my in-laws are visiting here from Puerto Rico till Jan. 7th. I have cut out bread, rice, all alcohol, artificial sweeteners, nightshades, peppers, tomatoes. I am eating clean, non-processed foods as much as I can and I am starting to feel better. I am less achy, less foggy minded, less tired and the bloating is beginning to dissipate.

I plan on starting (and blogging here) more about my journey eating foods with less gluten and lectins as soon as the New Year passes and my in-laws go back home, as that is when I will be able to start following Dr. Gundry's eating plan to the letter. Dr. Gundry's book "The Plant Paradox" and the You Tube videos of people who have followed (and are following) his program has given me a lot of hope.

I have missed everyone and now that I have a normal working environment (I am not the only employee) I am not working a million hours a week any more and not so stressed I will be a regular back on Spark again.

Thanks for reading this.
Wishing everyone a happy new year.

It’s great to hear from you! emoticon I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with so much. emoticon I can definitely relate. Menopause has not been my friend. The Plant Paradox is a great book. I’ll be cheering you on as you continue your journey to optimal health. emoticon I just got back from a week with family and too much sugar. Today is day one of getting back to my Primal normal. Hopefully I’ll detox enough over the next few days to make my January W30 Keto Reset easier.
