How to be positive in a negative world

One of my personal goals since November 2017 has been to remove complaining and negative self-talk from my life. I'm on a plateau with my weight and have to overcome the old thinking that would have accompanied the scale being 'stuck'. I know as long as I keep on keeping on, I WILL reach my goal. Choice after choice, day after day, small steps count.
Most of the time I'm successful, but I need reminders like the quotes from this article.

"Many of us speak to ourselves in demeaning and hurtful ways, using language we would never use with anyone else. And it's this way of talking to ourselves that defines how we view the world. If you're constantly using language that assumes the worst of yourself, or that rattles off all the things you've done wrong—your entire world will be affected. While you want to feel free, open, calm and relaxed instead you become stuck in a cycle of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and fear. The good news is; when you change how you communicate with yourself, and you'll soon see how the rest of your world will begin to change, too.

You can rise above negativity!

Improve your brain health by thinking on the bright side of things.

When you start paying attention to how you speak to yourself and the root judgments that are causing your negative self-talk, you'll see how you are perpetuating the thoughts and feelings you don't want through the very language you're using on yourself. To enjoy your life—to really see that the world is full of possibilities rather than liabilities—you need to let go of the negative self-talk and speak to yourself from a place of compassion, be aware of any self-judgments and biases that arise, and replace them with truthful, helpful, and kind language."-Cynthia Kane

Sometimes when someone criticizes you or your effort, it can be a challenge. However, you are in control of your reaction.

"It’s tough to keep a sunny disposition when you are surrounded by negativity. Keep in mind that you control your attitude and your outlook on life. Make the necessary changes in your life to create a more positive environment, and learn to take criticism lightly. At the end of the day, you will be happier, healthier and better off for the positive choices you are making."-Jen Mueller
