40 pounds in 10 months...what?!!!

40 pounds in less than 10 months? How does a person gain 40 pounds in less than months? What a horrible realization.

I had done so good when I was active on Spark about 3 years ago, I had lost 70 pounds, had gotten down to my goal weight, and had ran two half marathons. I was happy and confident and proud of myself. I was active with my kids. At some point I reached a burn-out point, and something happened in me, and I just stopped. I stopped tracking my food. I stopped exercising. I stopped caring that all of my weight that I had worked so hard to lose was piling right back on. I just in general stopped caring about myself. And now, over the last three years, I’ve put those 70 pounds back on. When I look at my timeline, I’ve put 40 pounds on in 10 months. That’s astonishing to me!! How did I do that!! Something is really broken that I can put that much weight on in such a short amount of time. I don’t even know what caused that. Now I’m back to all the issues that plauged me before.

Low self-esteem
Trouble sleeping at night – beginning stages of apnea?
Feeling uncomfortable in my clothes
Not wanting my picture being taken
Not being active with my kids
Depressed with appearance constantly

Enough is enough, it’s time to turn this back around, I’ve got to get this back on track, not only for myself, but for my kids and husband. I’m going to work to lose these 70 pounds again that I have gradually put back on over these last 3 years. I was such a happier and healthier (and much more confident) person at that weight. My first small goal is to lose 10 pounds. I know I need to chop my goals up into my small mini-goals, or the 70 pounds becomes overwhelming. My plan to do this will be through cutting out processed sugar and white flour. I will still continue to eat healthy natural carbs (ie, fruit), but will try to eat cleaner foods. I am also going to try to incorporate exercise into my life again, starting with a goal of at least walking for 45 minutes 3 days a week, and move on from there.

If anybody has any low-carb recipes they would love to share please let me know, I’m a sucker for a good smoothie!
