1/2 day snow day

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Looks like a blizzard is setting down here for the day. Everything looks so beautiful, like a snow globe. The kids are already on their way home from school at noon.

Snowy days and nights always put me in mind of comfort foods. Grilled cheese. A bowl of stew with warm bread and potatoes. Popcorn by the fire. Hot cocoa. Chicken pot pie. Any Pie!

I thought it might be a good idea to think of some ketogenic comfort foods to get through the storm.

No bread. No potatoes. No noodles. No rice. No corn. No Pie.

But SOUP! Yes Soup!

I love soup. Especially cream based soup.
Cream of broccoli, cream of tomato, cream of asparagus.
I love chicken soup too.
Bone broth with chopped celery a few green beans a handful of spinach and shredded chicken. Yum!

How about a square of rich dark chocolate? I have that every night before bed as comfort food.

Whipped cream. Mmmmmmmmm.....
I have a whipped cream maker. It's awesome. I fill it up at the beginning of the week and then I can have a couple tablespoons whenever I want. I like to mix it with a few raspberries as a special treat or desert. It goes well with my square of chocolate as well.

That should get me through the night emoticon

Let me know if you have any other ideas.
Everyone has such great ideas.
The only rule is No Carbs!

Happy Sparking!

I'm with you on super low carbs. I live that, quite a few years now.

    What I eat is:
    - meat (any type, just not breaded or in a sweet sauce)
    - colourful veggies and deep green salad
    - cheese
    - coffee with whipping cream (no sweetener)
    - ...

Not in my list, white things like rice, potatoes, sugar, pasta

Happy to chat anytime, just send me a note. I''m here daily.

Sounds like your March is going out like a lion! Ours was roaring last week (I shoveled snow three days in a row, the first day for 3 hrs.), and now the lambs are gamboling all over the place, LOL.

I actually love snow days, too... and SOUP! Great keto comfort food (my go-to). Keto casseroles are great, too... any combination of ground meat, heavy cream, cheese, low-carb veggies and spice... beef stroganoff is wonderful. Instead of popcorn by the fire, bacon rinds with hot creamy artichoke or spinach dip. Instead of hot chocolate, mocha BPC (or just chocolate... my Mr. like it with just cream cocoa powder and the CO and butter with a bit of Swerve for sweetness).

Enjoy your day with the kiddos!

It sounds like you have a good plan in place. I don't have any suggestions for food. Enjoy the day!
