SparkPeople and Smarter Eating

Today is a feel good day. The scale has gone down just a little each morning this week. That translates to 4 pounds this week. With the help of the nutrition trackers here I am making smarter choices that give my body the nutrition it needs without overdoing the calories.

No matter what we weight, unless we are healthy, we will not feel good. Last summer I started making smoothies for the purpose of getting in more nutrition. We also were reviewing blenders so I drank a lot of smoothies. I made some really good ones and a few really, really, bad ones. LOL
But I learned how to make them good. Unfortunately, I was packing too much fruit in them along with chia seeds and some other high calorie ingredients. My recipes were for 2 people but I wound up drinking both of them. Needless to say I gained some weight then left the smoothies alone.

Now I am back to making them again and thanks to Sparkpeople's nutrition tracker, I know how many calories are going in there before it ever hits my lips. I have found that fewer ingredients can make just as good if not better smoothies and not add the pounds.

It is amazing how much better you feel when you give your day a good start like this. I have not given up my coffee but other than the first one or two cups my coffee is decaffeinated. since I don't need that caffeine I might just go strictly decaf soon. We shall see.
